2017
On Saturday 7th of January, we were lucky to have our volunteer Tom present a workshop on “Methods and Resources for teaching English to African children”.
He taught us an exercise called a Grammar Drill which can be used to help African students learn new words and how to structure sentences.
Tom also advised on good books to use when teaching the students and how to get the most from a simple story book as resources can be difficult to obtain in the projects we have in Africa.
The workshop was a great success and especially beneficial to our volunteers who are travelling to Zambia later in the month. We learnt some fantastic techniques for correcting grammar, pronunciation, etc.
There was great discussion throughout and we couldn’t have asked for a better teacher. Thank you Tom for your time and passing on some of your knowledge.
